Common CBD Questions & Answers

What is CBD?

CBD is a naturally occurring plant compound from the hemp plant. The highest concentration of CBD can be found in the plant Cannabis sativa L., which makes over 100 different types of phytocannabinoids, or plant-based cannabinoids. CBD is associated with the positive therapeutic properties of cannabis, and none of the more negative properties that can cause intoxicating or psychoactive effects.

What does CBD stand for?

CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are compounds found in hemp plants. The most commonly known cannabinoids include cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). So far there have been 177 cannabinoids identified and isolated from the cannabis plants.

The definition of cannabinoids is compounds that act on the receptors (CB1, CB2) of the endocannabinoid system. The most well-known are plant derived cannabinoids (phytocannabinoids), such as THC and CBD. We also have endogenous cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) which are made in our body.

What is THC?

THC is the acronym of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, a natural compound derided from the cannabis plant. THC was the first plant cannabinoid studied for its therapeutic benefits and it has shown its use in a variety of medical conditions. It is the major compound that produces the “high” (psychotropic effect, intoxication). This psychotropic effect can be effectively managed by the addition of CBD to cannabinoid preparations.

All of Cannaray’s CBD products are THC-free and therefore none of our oils, capsules or topicals will make you feel ‘high’ or intoxicated.

Is CBD safe?

Yes, CBD is safe and "well tolerated with a good safety profile", according to the World Health Organisation's 2017 Report.

Is CBD legal?

Yes, CBD is legal in the UK where THC (tetrahydracannabinol) is not present. All Cannaray CBD products are independently triple-lab tested to ensure our products are THC-free.

Will CBD make me high?

No, CBD does not make you high, it is a non-intoxicating compound that doesn’t change your perception. The 'high' state associated with cannabis is only true when THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) is involved. Cannaray’s CBD is independently triple lab tested to ensure it is THC-free. Instead of creating that 'high' sensation, it promotes homeostasis – which is to say it helps bring balance to your body.

I'm a professional athlete, can I use CBD?

Yes, all Cannaray CBD products can be used in professional sports as they do not contain THC. CBD has been accepted by the World Anti-Doping Agency for use in sports since 2018

What's the best way to store CBD?

The best way to store CBD oil is in away from light, heat and oxygen, such as a pantry/larder or bathroom cupboard. If you are not using it regularly, you can keep it in the fridge, but if you use it every day, you can keep it at room temperature. CBD by itself is very stable and will not degrade - the main issue is the carrier oil, which is susceptible to oxidation, and other hemp active compounds that are also less stable.

Is CBD for me?

CBD is for everyone. We advocate a holistic, balanced approach to living happier every day. We create all our products to the highest quality to ensure your peace of mind.

What makes Cannaray different to other CBD brands?

How is CBD made?

Our partner farms link each step of their production processes. We check and track the product from source until final product. Each product is clearly marked with its batch number.

Are there any studies on the benefits of CBD?

There are currently over 3000 studies done on CBD. Many studies are done on cell cultures and animal models, but there are many clinical trials and human studies, showing the therapeutic effects of CBD. Please visit our Journal to discover more about the studied benefits of CBD

Will CBD interact with any other medication that I am taking?

At higher doses, CBD can interact with enzymes of the liver, that also metabolize other medications. In practice, up to 50 mg CBD per dose, hasn’t shown any interactions with other medications. As a preventive measure, it is advised to take CBD 2 hours before a prescription medication and we would recommend that you consult a licensed physician on whether CBD may interfere with your medication before using our CBD products.

Are there any medications I should avoid when taking CBD?

Our advice is to always consult your doctor if you are taking medication before taking CBD.

Can I take CBD while pregnant?

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) does not recommend those who are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking any medication to consume CBD products.

Will CBD show up in a recreational drugs test?

No, Cannaray CBD will not show up in a recreational drugs test because all our CBD products are THC-free.

How do I know how much CBD to take?

We recommended new users to start low and then build up if required. Do not exceed 70mg a day.

Please check our guide on How to Use CBD which goes into detail for each of our products.

Can I use CBD with other medications?

Our CBD Extraction Process

We use a minimally invasive, chemical-free non-hazardous extraction (NHE) process to extract the cannabinoids in as few steps as possible. Other extraction methods use CO2 or ethanol in a 12-14 step process. We use high pressure and low temperatures in a 2-3 step process without any hazardous solvents. We feel this is the most natural way to extract the cannabinoids.

CBD with Trackable Serial Numbers

Each of our products can be linked back to the original farm it was produced in through a trackable serial number. This is paramount to maintaining high quality. Our standard operating protocol is to routinely check and track the product until it is in your hands.

CBD Lab Reports

Each Certificate of Analysis (COA) is linked to the expert test results of a reputable third-party laboratory. Batch numbers are available to provide full transparency in the manufacturing process. Best by dates are clearly displayed for product shelf life expectancy. View Lab Reports
